Description
Ceposed-CV Tablets are a combination antibacterial formulation containing Cefpodoxime Proxetil and Potassium Clavulanate. This combination is designed to provide broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against bacteria that cause infections in different parts of the body.
Cefpodoxime Proxetil is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that works by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, leading to bacterial cell death. It is effective against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
However, some bacteria produce enzymes known as beta-lactamases, which can destroy certain antibiotics and make them ineffective. Clavulanic Acid, derived from potassium clavulanate, acts as a beta-lactamase inhibitor that blocks these enzymes. This helps protect cefpodoxime from degradation and enhances its antibacterial activity.
The combination provides improved coverage against resistant organisms and is commonly prescribed for the treatment of respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, ear, nose and throat (ENT) infections, and skin and soft tissue infections. Ceposed-CV Tablets should be taken as directed by a qualified healthcare professional, and the full course of therapy should be completed to ensure effective treatment.
